PATRIOTIC E-MAILS
A LETTER FROM A MARINE PILOT
Dear Terrorists,
I am a Marine Aviator. I was born and raised in a small town in New England. I
come from a family of five. I was raised in a middle class home and taught my
values by my mother and father.
My dad worked a series of jobs in finance and my mom took care of us kids.
We were not an overly religious family but attended church most Sundays. It was
a nice small Episcopal Church. I have a brother and sister and I am the youngest
in my family. I was the first in many generations to attend college.
I have flown Marine aircraft for 16 years. For me the flying was never a
lifelong dream or a "calling," it just happened. I needed a job and I liked the
challenge. I continue to do it today because I feel it is important to give back
to a nation which has given so much to me. I do it because although I will never
be rich, my family will be comfortable. I do it because many of my friends have
left for the airlines and someone has to do it.
My government has spent millions to train me to fly these multi-million dollar
aircraft. I make about 70,000 dollars a year and after 20 years will be offered
a pension.
I like baseball but think the players make too much money. I am in awe of
firemen and policemen and what they do each day for my community, and like
teachers, they just don't get paid enough.
I respect my elders and always use sir or ma'am when addressing a stranger. I'm
not sure about kids these days but I think that's normal for every generation.
I voted for George Bush not for his IQ but because I like him. I think I made a
pretty good choice.
I tell you all this because when I come for you, I want you to know me. I won't
be hiding behind a woman or a child. I won't be disguised or pretending to be
something I am not. I will be in a U.S. issue flight suit. I will be wearing
standard U.S. issue flight gear, and I will be flying a Marine aircraft clearly
marked as a U.S. warplane. I wish we could meet up close in a small room where I
could wrap my hands around your throat and slowly squeeze the life out of you
but unfortunately you're hiding in a hole in the ground so we will have to do
this a different way.
I want you to know also that I am very good at what I do. I can put a 2,000 lb
bomb through a window from 10,000 feet up. I generally only fly at night so you
may want to start sleeping during the day. I am not eager to die for my country
but I am willing to sacrifice my life to protect it from animals like you.
I will do everything in my power to ensure no civilians are hurt as I take aim
at you.
My countrymen are a forgiving bunch. Many are already forgetting what you did on
Sept 11th. But I will not forget, and my President will not forget.
I am coming. I hope you know me a little bit better, see you soon...sleep tight.
Signed
A UNITED STATES MARINE CORPS PILOT
Thanks Scott, Jonna and Darin!
ODE TO AMERICA
When you think the U.S. isn't thought well of all over the world, read this
editorial from a Romanian Newspaper.
FROM ROMANIA: RECOGNITION (AND ENVY) OF THE AMERICAN ETHOS AND ÉLAN!!
Subject: Editorial from a Romanian newspaper
An Ode to America
Why are Americans so united? They don't resemble one another even if you paint
them! They speak all the languages of the world and form an astonishing mixture
of civilizations. Some of them are nearly extinct, others are incompatible with
one another, and in matters of religious beliefs, not even God can count how
many they are.
Still, the American tragedy turned three hundred million people into a hand put
on the heart. Nobody rushed to accuse the White House, the army, the secret
services that they are only a bunch of losers. Nobody rushed to empty their bank
accounts. Nobody rushed on the streets nearby to gape about. The Americans
volunteered to donate blood and to give a helping hand. After the first moments
of panic, they raised the flag on the smoking ruins, putting on T-shirts, caps
and ties in the colors of the national flag. They placed flags on buildings and
cars as if in every place and on every car a minister or the president was
passing. On every occasion they started singing their traditional song: "God
Bless America!".
Silent as a rock, I watched the charity concert broadcast on Saturday once,
twice, three times, on different TV channels. There were Clint Eastwood, Willie
Nelson, Robert de Niro, Julia Roberts, Cassius Clay, Jack Nicholson, Bruce
Springsteen, Silvester Stalone, James Wood, and many others whom no film or
producers could ever bring together. The American's solidarity spirit turned
them into a choir. Actually, choir is not the word. What you could hear was the
heavy artillery of the American soul. What neither George W. Bush, nor Bill
Clinton, nor Colin Powell could say without facing the risk of stumbling over
words and sounds, was being heard in a great and unmistakable way in this
charity concert.
I don't know how it happened that all this obsessive singing of America didn't
sound croaky, nationalist, or ostentatious! It made you green with envy because
you weren't able to sing for your country without running the risk of being
considered chauvinist, ridiculous, or suspected of who-knows-what mean
interests.
I watched the live broadcast and the rerun of its rerun for hours listening to
the story of the guy who went down one hundred floors with a woman in a
wheelchair without knowing who she was, or of the Californian hockey player, who
fought with the terrorists and prevented the plane from hitting a target that
would have killed other hundreds or thousands of people. How on earth were they
able to bow before a fellow human?
Imperceptibly, with every word and musical note, the memory of some turned into
a modern myth of tragic heroes. And with every phone call, millions and millions
of dollars were put in a collection aimed at rewarding not a man or a family,
but a spirit which nothing can buy.
What on earth can unite the Americans in such a way? Their land? Their galloping
history? Their economic power? Money? I tried for hours to find an answer,
humming songs and murmuring phrases which risk of sounding like commonplaces. I
thought things over, but I reached only one conclusion.
Only freedom can work such miracles!
TO KILL AN AMERICAN
A real description of the American People without constriction of race, creed,
religion, or sex. Kill an American? A must-read Finally someone says it right!!!
You probably missed it in the rush of news last week, but there was actually a
report that someone in Pakistan had published in a newspaper an offer of a
reward to anyone who killed an American, any American. So an Australian dentist
wrote the following to let everyone know what an American is, so they would know
when they found one:
An American is English, or French, or Italian, Irish, German, Spanish, Polish,
Russian or Greek. An American may also be Canadian, Mexican, African, Indian,
Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Australian, Iranian, Asian, or Arab, or Pakistani, or
Afghan. An American may also be a Cherokee, Osage, Blackfoot, Navaho, Apache,
Seminole or one of the many other tribes known as native Americans.
An American is Christian, or he could be Jewish, or Buddhist, or Muslim. In
fact, there are more Muslims in America than in Afghanistan. The only difference
is that in America they are free to worship as each of them chooses. An American
is also free to believe in no religion. For that he will answer only to God, not
to the government, or to armed thugs claiming to speak for the government and
for God.
An American is from the most prosperous land in the history of the world. The
root of that prosperity can be found in the Declaration of Independence, which
recognizes the God given right of each person the pursuit of happiness.
An American is generous. Americans have helped out just about every other nation
in the world in their time of need. When the Soviet army overran Afghanistan 20
years ago, Americans came with arms and supplies to enable the people to win
back their country. As of the morning of September 11, Americans had given more
than any other nation to the poor in Afghanistan.
Americans welcome the best, the best products, the best books, the best music,
the best food, the best athletes. But they also welcome the least.
The national symbol of America, The Statue of Liberty, welcomes your tired and
your poor, the wretched refuse of your teeming shores, the homeless, tempest
tossed. These in fact are the people who built America. Some of them were
working in the Twin Towers the morning of September 11, 2001, earning a better
life for their families. I've been told that the World Trade Center victims were
from at least 30 other countries, cultures, and first languages, including those
that aided and abetted the terrorists.
So you can try to kill an American if you must. Hitler did. So did General Tojo,
and Stalin, and Mao Tse-Tung, and every bloodthirsty tyrant in the history of
the world. But, in doing so you would just be killing yourself. That is because
Americans are not a particular people from a particular place. They are the
embodiment of the human spirit of freedom. Everyone who holds to that spirit,
everywhere, is an American.
Pass this around the World.
PS. I found a great website that's got the Declaration of Independence, The Bill
of Rights and the Constitution. I particularly enjoyed how inspirational the
words are - even after 227 years. Great quick read -

AN OPEN LETTER TO ALL ANTI-WAR PROTESTERS
I hope you are specifically singled out for the
next terrorist incident that this country sees. We all know that another attack
or wave of attacks is imminent and I can only pray that you are the target, for
you are doing nothing but endangering the lives of more Americans.
An old saying comes to mind: United we stand,
divided we fall. If you, in your simple naivety, are so sure that fighting for
our way of life is wrong, then by all means voice your opinion in a positive,
non-destructive way. The way of life that allows you to make an ass of yourself
in the streets of America also allows you to run for public office and elect the
public officials who you think will best represent the populous.
If you truly wanted to further your cause of
peace, why didn't you protest our war in Afghanistan? Why didn't you protest our
various endeavors in Iraq, Africa and Eastern Europe during the Clinton
administration? Why didn't you protest our action in Panama or our "war on
drugs"? The truth of the matter is that peace is not gained through words alone
but the road to peace and democracy is paved only with the blood, sweat and
tears of those willing to die for the freedom of others.
Understand this: your protesting, your blocking
of our streets, your occupation of our cities resources, and your rape of the
first amendment is not helping to spread peace nor increase the safety of the
American people, but rather it is causing the opposite. Our police are so busy
keeping the peace with peace protesters (ironic, no?) that terrorists might as
well come on in and do as they please. After the events of September 11th, 2001,
I can only assume that we would want to put all possible resources into keeping
our cities safe, but your protests are hindering that. So ultimately in my mind,
if there was to be another attack, I can only hope it is against the people who
are essentially
allowing it to happen.
Our brothers, sisters, mothers, fathers, relatives, friends, heroes and idols
are dispersed throughout the planet as we speak fighting for the freedom of
others, feeding the poor, defending the helpless and keeping peace all in the
name of humanity and you should be ashamed for protesting against them. I'm sick
and tired of hearing the excuse from you protestors that you are not against the
coalition forces, but against the war they are fighting. Although this is a much
better stance than the protestors of the sixties who acted appallingly towards
our soldiers coming home from Vietnam, I firmly believe that causing civil
unrest in the name of "peace" does nothing but demoralize our soldiers who are
valiantly serving us across the world.
Protesting a war on an evil, murdering tyrant whose government is responsible
for more atrocities that are countable or even worth recounting is the same as
showing support for said tyrant. When you show your disgust for our government's
actions in trying to overthrow his regime, you are showing your support for him.
My last message is this: think twice before going
out to the cities of America with the soul purpose of disrupting the commutes of
your hardworking neighbors in hopes of getting on TV with your clever signs and
ridiculous behavior. Is your stopping traffic in the middle of the city and
playing dead in front of office buildings actually going to bring peace to the
world? No, no it is not. I'm not saying that individuals or groups of people
cannot effect change in the world, but I think the way the American protestors
are trying to do this is a waste of time and taxpayers money.
Show your patriotism by writing to the officials
elected by you or even better by running for political office, not by skipping
work or school and clogging up America's streets with the intention of showing
off your divisive, non-constructive childish behavior.
Regards,
Chris M.
AN OPEN LETTER TO MEDIA
I thank God for freedom of the press, unhampered by government control. It is a
blessing which is non existent in a lot of countries. But with freedom comes
responsibility, and in the case of the media this should constitute fairness,
telling both sides of the story. Opinion and agenda driven journalism should be
relegated to the editorial page.
The American people need to know the truth, the whole truth, which means
reporting things which go outside the boundaries of personal politics. Even if
it makes the other side look good once in a while.
I'm glad to see Fox News come on line, at least they usually give both sides of
the story. They are often accused of being a conservative network but the truth
of the matter is that this nation has not heard TV coverage which has not been
tilted to the left in so long that when they do get fair and balanced coverage
to some liberals it seems conservative. For instance, the other night one of
their correspondents interviewed some of the anti - war protesters asking them
what the alternative to going to war with Iraq would be. The standard answer
was,"I don't know".
So here are a bunch of young people out in the street demonstrating against a
war and they don't even know why. Does this make any sense and why didn't Peter
Jennings and company talk to some of these people? And I don't mean that Fox is
perfect but they sure report more of the news than the other channels do.
And why doesn't the media tell the truth about abortion, that it is profit
driven and why can't they show a partial birth abortion? Too gruesome you say?
Well just how gruesome is it for the baby who is being cruelly murdered?
And why do they try to pillory a man like Billy Graham who has devoted every
hour of his adult life to good works, by quoting an old statement which was
taken out of context concerning Jews. Billy Graham loves the Jews and Israel,
the media knows that but they just don't care. I think
that's not telling the whole story, irresponsible journalism.
And what about coverage of the Islamic prisoners in Guantanamo Bay? Why don't
they tell the military's side of that story? And why do they follow Jesse
Jackson and Al Sharpton around like loyal puppy dogs ignoring Jackson's shady
financial dealings and Sharpton's propensity for causing violence? And why do
they love to tell us bad news about the economy when there's also good things
happening?
I know the reason why. The network news and many of the large newspapers in this
country have a liberal political agenda and they know that if the news is
presented fairly that you'll be less likely to swallow their line and go along
with their thinking. The front page of a newspaper should not look like the
editorial page. Think about it, do you ever wonder why The Washington Post and
the New York Times seldom have anything good to say about President Bush?
Doesn't he ever do anything which deserves praise? And do you ever wonder why
they never say anything bad about Hillary Clinton? Doesn't she do something once
in a while which deserves criticism?
Think about the kind of America these people are pushing for and be extremely
careful how much of their coverage you believe. Is it the truth, the whole truth
and nothing but the truth?
What do you think?
God Bless America

"Charlie Daniels' OPEN LETTER TO HOLLYWOOD
BUNCH"
OK - Let's just say for a moment you bunch of pampered, overpaid, unrealistic
children
had your way and the U.S.A. didn't go into Iraq.
Let's say that you really get your way
and we destroy all our nuclear weapons
and stick daisies in our gun barrels
and sit around with some white wine and cheese and pat ourselves on the back,
so proud of what we've done for world peace.
Let's say that we cut the military budget to
just enough to keep the National Guard
on hand to help out with floods and fires.
Let's say that we close down our military bases all over the world and bring the
troops home, increase our foreign aid and drop all the trade sanctions against
everybody.
I suppose that in your fantasy world this would create a utopian world where
everybody would live in peace. After all, the great monster, the United States
of America, the cause of all the world's trouble
would have disbanded it's horrible military
and certainly all the other countries of the world would follow suit.
After all, they only arm themselves to defend their countries from the mean old
U.S.A.
Why you bunch of pitiful, hypocritical,
idiotic, spoiled mugwumps. Get your head out of the sand and smell the Trade
Towers burning.
Do you think that a trip to Iraq by Sean Penn did anything but encourage a
wanton murderer to think that the people of the U.S.A. didn't have the nerve or
the guts to fight him?
Barbra Streisand's fanatical and hateful rankings about George Bush makes about
as much sense as Michael Jackson hanging a baby over a railing.
You people need to get out of Hollywood
once in a while and get out into the real world. You'd be surprised at the
hostility you would find out here.
Stop in at a truck stop and tell an overworked, long distance truck driver that
you don't think Saddam Hussein is doing anything wrong.
Tell a farmer with a couple of sons in the military that you think the United
States
has no right to defend itself.
Go down to Baxley, Georgia and hold an anti-war rally and see what the folks
down there think about you.
You people are some of the most disgusting examples of a waste of protoplasm
I've ever
had the displeasure to hear about.
Sean Penn, you're a traitor to the United States of America. You gave aid and
comfort to the enemy. How many American lives will your little, "fact finding
trip" to Iraq cost? You encouraged Saddam to think
that we didn't have the stomach for war.
You people protect one of the most evil men
on the face of this earth and won't lift a finger to save the life of an unborn
baby.
Freedom of choice you say?
Well I'm going to exercise some freedom of choice of my own.
If I see any of your names on a marquee,
I'm going to boycott the movie. I will completely stop going to movies if I have
to.
In most cases it certainly wouldn't be much of a loss.
You scoff at our military whose boots you're not even worthy to shine.
They go to battle and risk their lives so ingrates like you can live in luxury.
The day of reckoning is coming when you will be faced with the undeniable truth
that the war against Saddam Hussein is the war on terrorism.
America is in imminent danger.
You're either for her or against her.
There is no middle ground.
I think we all know where you stand.
What do you think?
God Bless America!
Charlie Daniels isn't the only one that's mad.
Check out Beth Chapman's rant:
Last week, the Shelby County (Alabama) Legislative Delegation hosted a "Stand Up
for America Rally." More than 1,200 people attended including featured speakers
Chief Justice Roy Moore, Adjutant General Mark Bowen and State Auditor Beth
Chapman. Attached is a copy of Mrs. Chapman's speech, which resulted in five
standing ovations, tremendous applause and an encore.

Stand Up for America Rally Speech By: Beth Chapman
I'm here tonight because men and women of the United States military have given
their lives for my freedom. I am not here tonight because Sheryl Crowe, Rosie
O'Donnell, Martin Sheen, George Clooney, Jane Fonda or Phil Donahue, sacrificed
their lives for me.
If my memory serves ! me correctly, it was not movie stars or musicians, but the
United States Military who fought on the shores of Iwo Jima, the jungles of
Vietnam, and the beaches of Normandy.
Tonight, I say we should support the President of the United States and the U.S.
Military and tell the liberal, tree-hugging, Birkenstock-wearing, hippy,
tie-dyed liberals to go make their movies and music and whine somewhere else.
After all, if they lived in Iraq, they wouldn't be allowed the freedom of speech
they're being given here today. Ironically, they would be put to death at the
hands of Saddam Hussein or Osama Bin Laden.
I want to know how the very people who are against war because of the loss of
life, can possibly be the same people who are for abortion? They are the same
people who are for animal rights but against the rights of the unborn.
The movie stars say they want to go to Iraq and serve as "human shields" for the
Iraqis. I say let ! them buy a one-way ticket and go.
No one likes war. I hate war! But the one thing I hate more is the fact that
this country has been forced into war-innocent people have lost their lives - -
and there but for the grace of God, it could have been my brother, my husband,
or even worse my own son.
On December 7, 1941, there are no records of movie stars treading the blazing
waters of Pearl Harbor. On September 11, 2001; there are no photos of movie
stars standing as "human shields" against the debris and falling bodies
descending from the World Trade Center. There were only policemen and firemen -
-underpaid civil servants who gave their all with nothing expected in return.
When the USS Cole was bombed, there were no movie stars guarding the ship - -
where were the human shields then? If America's movie stars want to be human
shields, let them shield the gang-ridden streets of Los Angeles, or New York
City, let them shield the lives of the children of North Birmingham whose
mothers lay them down to sleep on the floor each night to shelter them from
stray bullets. If they want to be human shields, I say let them shield the men
and women of honesty and integrity who epitomize courage and embody the spirit
of freedom by wearing the proud uniforms of the United States Military. Those
are the people who have earned and deserve shielding!
Throughout the course of history, this country has remained free, not because of
movie stars and liberal activists, but because of brave men and women who hated
war too. However, they lay down their lives so that we all may live in freedom.
After all - "What greater love hath no man, that he lay down his life for his
friend," or in this case a country.
We should give our military honor and acknowledgement and not let their lives be
in vain. If you want to see true human shields, walk through Arlington Cemetery.
There lie human shields, heroes, and the BRAVE Americans who didn't get on
television and talk about being a human shield - they WERE human shields.
I thank God tonight for freedom - - those who bought and paid for it with their
lives in the past - - those who will protect it in the present and defend it in
the future.
America has remained silent too long! God-fearing people have remained silent
too long! We must lift our voices united in a humble prayer to God for guidance
and the strength and courage to sustain us throughout whatever the future may
hold.
After the tragic events of Sept. 11th, my then eleven -year-old son said
terrorism is a war against us and them and if you're not one of us, then you're
one of them.
So in closing tonight, let us be of one accord, let us stand proud, and let us
be the human shields of prayer, encouragement and support for the President, our
troops and their families and our country.
May God bless America, the land of the free, the home of the brave and the
greatest country on the face of this earth!
